Outdoor advertising, Delhi NCR — Seen from the road.

Outdoor is read in the seconds it takes to drive past. We choose sites for who passes them and where they're going, then write creative that survives a glance — hoardings, unipoles, backlit panels, standing letters and standees across Delhi, Noida and the expressways.

WHAT WE HANDLE

The site, the line, and the glance in between.

01

Site selection

Which road, which direction of traffic, how close to the project or the store. A hoarding that faces people driving home from work does a different job from one that faces the morning commute.

02

Creative for speed

One thought, a name and a way to respond. The Oasis Grand Stand payment-plan board carries little more than 40:30:30, a phone number and a U-turn arrow.

03

Formats

Hoardings and billboards, unipoles, gantries, backlit panels, standing letters, and standees for malls, sites and events.

04

Proof of display

Site photographs of the work as it went up — like the KCC Institutes letters beside the DND Flyway — so you can see what you paid for.

What outdoor does that nothing else does

Outdoor is the only medium that can't be skipped, closed or scrolled past. It works by repetition: a commuter passes the same site twice a day, every day, until the name feels like part of the landscape. That's why it suits launches that need fame quickly, and brands that need to be known in one particular part of the city.

It's also the most local medium there is. A hoarding a kilometre from a project, facing traffic that's about to pass the turning, can do something a citywide campaign never will — turn a passer-by into a site visit.

Choosing hoarding sites in NCR

  • Traffic and direction. Which way are the people you want driving, and at what time of day?
  • Speed and dwell. An expressway site is read in a second or two; a signal or a congested arterial road gives the eye much longer. The copy should be written for the site.
  • Visibility. Distance from the carriageway, angle, clutter around it, and whether it's lit at night.
  • Relevance. Close to the project, the store or the campus — or on the route your buyers take to get there.
  • Permissions and duration. Outdoor media is licensed by local authorities, and sites are usually booked by the month. A good vendor confirms both before you print.

We go through this in more detail — including how to measure a campaign — in our guide to outdoor advertising in Delhi NCR.

Writing for a glance

The discipline of outdoor is deciding what to leave out. A hoarding can carry one idea, one image and one action. Everything else — the floor plans, the amenities, the full payment schedule — belongs in the newspaper ad, the brochure or the website the hoarding sends people to. Our P.P. Jewellers lines are a good example of a structure that reads in a single glance and builds into a campaign over many sites.

A hoarding has one job. Give it two and it does neither.

Is a billboard the same as a hoarding?

In Indian usage, mostly yes — “hoarding” is the everyday word for a large outdoor advertising site, and “billboard” is used interchangeably. Unipoles (a single pole with a panel on top), gantries (across the road) and backlit panels are specific formats within outdoor.

How long does a hoarding campaign run?

Outdoor sites are usually booked by the month. Launches often take a short, heavy burst; brand-building and admissions campaigns run longer on fewer sites.

How do you measure outdoor advertising?

With a phone number or QR code used only on outdoor, by asking every caller and site visitor where they saw you, and by comparing enquiries from the area around the sites before and during the campaign.

Put it on the road.
